Marlins New ‘Retrowave’ Jerseys Slammed by Fans

The Miami Marlins were hoping to excite their fan base with their new City Connect uniforms, which were unveiled last week, but the new Nike threads called ‘Retrowave’ were a complete miss with Marlin fans.

The Marlins hyped the arrival with the following in an official press release:

“Our new Retrowave uniform combines the Marlins’ rich history with an innovative, forward-thinking approach that mirrors our organization’s trajectory,” Marlins president of business Caroline O’Connor said in a press release. “We aimed to celebrate our club’s storied past and special moments made in the teal, while looking forward to a bright future, all woven in a style that embodies the spirit of South Florida.”

The team also shared the following video hyping the jerseys, saying that they were “woven with the threads of our past, infused with teal of our legacy and accents of pink like the bright lights that paint an electric glow in the city where the party never ends.”

The responses on social media weren’t exactly what the Marlins were expecting, and a good collection can be found here at Miami New Times.

A swing and a miss for the Marlins? Maybe the new jerseys will grow on fans, but for now, it seems like a strikeout.
